VILLAVICIOSA, Abra – Two individuals were injured after they were successively stabbed by their companions due to a misunderstanding that transpired as a result of drunkenness inside a store at Ap-apaya, here, recently.
Police authorities identified the victims as Nelson Lopez Mendoza, 42 years old, married, farmer and Jay-ar Bondoy Mendoza 19 years old, single, both residents of Brgy. Lumaba, Villaviciosa, Abra while the arrested suspect was named as Rey Mariano Salvador, 40 years old, married, farmer and a resident of Brgy. Sabnangan, Luba, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed while the victims were buying liquor inside a store, the suspect suddenly arrived and then a heated altercation suddenly erupted between him and the younger Mendoza.
After a few moments, the suspect suddenly used a broken bottle and successively stabbed the victims on the different parts of their bodies.
The victims were then rushed to a local medical facility for initial medical treatment but Nelson was subsequently transferred to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment where he was confined fur further observation.
The established motive of the incident was alleged misunderstanding due to drunkiness of both partis.
The suspect was eventually arrested by responding police operatives and subsequently detained at the Villaviciosa Municipal Police Station awaiting the filing of the appropriate charges against him before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
