CALANASAN, Apayao – Two individuals, including the gun-wielding suspect, died while a truck driver was injured after the suspect went on an alleged shooting spree inside the OCDC detachment at Poblacion, here, Sunday.
Police authorities identified the fatalities as Joylin Liyaban, 27, single, site engineer, and resident of Tabuk City, Kalinga and Reden Garcia, 33, married, dump truck driver and resident of Tabuk City, Kalinga while the injured individual was named as Cleto Macklinic, 27, married, dump truck driver, and resident of Paracelis, Mountain Province.
Initial police investigation showed that Garcia allegedly barged into the room of Liyaban and shot her, went out of the room and shot Macklinic before shooting himself on his head.
The victims were rushed to the Calanasan district hospital for medical treatment but Liyaban and Garcia were declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to fatal gunshot wounds while Macklinic is now undergoing close medical supervision for the gunshot wound that he sustained on his left arm.
Probers are still conducting an in-depth investigation on the case to ascertain the motive behind the shooting incident that caused the untimely demise of the fatalities.
