DAGUPAN CITY — A total fund of P715,560.00 under the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST)–Pangasinan was awarded to two micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Pangasinan.
Jennifer Fernandez, science research specialist II of DOST-Pangasinan Provincial Science and Technology Office (PSTO), said the fund was awarded to Mimi’s Cacao Processing, a tablea processor in Mangaldan town who received P449,000.00 and to Tees Digital Arts and Prints, a souvenir items and signage maker in the municipality of Laoac that received P266,560.00.
“SETUP Fund is provided by the DOST to support local enterprises in adopting technological advancements to improve their business operations,” Fernandez said.
She added that the program aims to enhance the productivity, production efficiency, and overall income of the assisted MSMEs.
She emphasized that under the memorandum of agreement signed by the firms with DOST, recipient firms are expected to utilize the funds to acquire technology interventions relevant to their specific industries.
“These technological interventions are intended to provide the firms with the tools and equipment necessary to enhance their operations, enabling them to meet the challenges of a competitive market,” she said.
“By embracing these technological upgrades, Mimi’s Cacao Processing and Tees Digital Arts and Prints are projected to experience significant improvements in their daily processes, allowing them to produce higher-quality goods and services while optimizing their resources,” she added.
Likewise, Fernandez said the PSTO-Pangasinan will actively monitor the progress and implementation of the funded projects in order to maximize the positive impact of the funding on the local economy and the overall business landscape in Pangasinan. BY: ELSHA MARIE S. ARGUEL
