DAGUPAN CITY – A total of 350 students will be given the opportunity to take various courses through the Provincial Scholarship Program (PSP) under the Academically Highly Competent (AHC) Group for the academic year 2023-2024.
This is based on the policies and guidelines for academic scholars issued by Governor Ramon V. Guico III.
As indicated, the PSP opened 260 slots for students who will receive the highest scores on the qualifying exam from 1-260 (subject to change due to the national tax allotment budget); 20 slots for athletes who have demonstrated exceptional talent or potential and have won competitions at the regional, national, and international levels; 40 slots for students who want to pursue courses in agriculture; 20 slots for individuals who belong to a recognized indigenous group; and 10 slots for individuals who are members of the Muslim community.
The submission of the application will last until Friday, August 18, 2023.
Applicants have to submit their application at the Provincial Training and Development Center I at the Capitol Complex in Lingayen town.
The PSP will strengthen education opportunities in the province through cash assistance worth P10,000.00 every term for financially challenged but deserving incoming first-year college students.
Based on PSP policies and guidelines, the minimum requirements for applicants are that they have a final weighted average (GWA) of 85% or higher, have completed Grade 12 of an accredited secondary school, come from an indigent family with a combined annual income of parents or guardians not exceeding P250,000.00, and have lived in Pangasinan for at least one year, except Dagupan City.
Applicants are advised to submit on the day of application for the qualifying examination their certified photocopy of the senior high school transcript (Form 138) with a GWA of 85% or higher signed by the class adviser, duly accomplished Application Form 1 (which can be downloaded at tinyurl.com/PSPScholarForm), an enrollment or registration form for agri-fisheries courses, and supporting documents for sports and arts category.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Academic Scholarship Program Committee will conduct the simultaneous qualifying examination on September 16 at the Pangasinan National High School in Lingayen town for Districts 1 to 3, and at the Juan G. Macaraeg National High School in Binalonan town for Districts 4 to 6.
