LUNA, Apayao – The Provincial Health Office (PHO), in collaboration with the Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center (FNLGHTC), did a successful blood-letting activity last August 2, at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Provincial Capitol Main Building.
This blood-letting event was organized in observance of the National Blood Donors’ Day with the primary objective of ensuring a sustained blood supply in the province, as well as extending support to neighboring provinces like Cagayan.
Blood supply is important, especially during emergencies, hence a regular blood donation drive is necessary. Without available blood in blood banks or storage facilities, operations or surgeries could be delayed and put patients’ lives in danger.
Originally scheduled for July 26 which had to be postponed due to the Super Typhoon Egay, which caused significant damages in the province, the activity participation saw 33 employees volunteering to donate blood.
Emphasizing the theme “Every Drop Counts,” the PHO and FNLGHTC continue to call upon individuals to join the noble cause of saving lives through blood donation.
On August 3, the team headed to Pudtol, Apayao, to hold another blood-letting activity, aiming to further bolster the blood supply and support the health needs of the community. By Jomela C. Dela Torre
