BAGUIO CITY – The four Apayao municipal government units of Conner, Luna, Pudtol, and Santa Marcela were awarded P7.2 Million or P1.8 Million each for being a Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) awardee.
The incentive was given to the 4 municipalities on January 15, 2024, at Senator Nene Pimentel Hall by the Cordillera office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-CAR).
The SGLG, established under Republic Act 112922, serves as a recognition program motivating local government units (LGUs) to continually enhance their performance in various governance areas. The DILG has recently refined and elevated its comprehensive criteria for the 2023 SGLG, posing a more challenging evaluation for LGUs.
To qualify for the SGLG, LGUs must excel in criteria spanning financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, health compliance, sustainable education, peace and order, business friendliness, environmental protection, and tourism, culture, and the arts.
Out of the 401 municipalities assessed, Conner, Luna, Pudtol, and Santa Marcela successfully met the strict criteria and secured a place in the national 2023 SGLG. This recognition reflects their dedication to effective leadership and exceptional public service, despite the heightened assessment standards during the evaluation held on December 13-14, 2023.
