LUNA, Apayao – The local government units (LGUs) of Santa Marcela, Luna, Pudtol and Conner, Apayao have made it to the list of this year’s passers for the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG).
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that the municipalities were among the 493 LGU awardees nationwide.
The SGLG, also known as “Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal”, is an institutionalized award from the DILG given to LGUs in the country that uphold transparency and accountability in the use of public funds, are prepared for disasters, assist marginalized sectors, conserve local culture and heritage, improve education, adopt social responsibility, and protect constituents from harm and property damage.
The agency expressed that such recognition is necessary to boost LGUs for progress and an improved performance.
The DILG conveyed that in order to become an awardee of the SGLG, the LGUs should have passed all the governance criteria areas, which include financial administration and sustainability; disaster preparedness; social protection and sensitivity; health compliance and responsiveness; sustainable education; business-friendliness and competitiveness; safety, peace, and order; environmental management; tourism, heritage development, culture, and arts; and youth development.
The Cordillera office of the DILG congratulates awardees for their outcome oriented efforts in local administration and service delivery.
Furthermore, DILG Apayao Provincial Director Max Meyer Adong said he is confident that the said LGUs would maintain their prospective acts in order to achieve a more affluent, inclusive, and resilient society.
