BAGUIO CITY – The Adiwang Elementary School of Baguio Central District was recently cited by the Department of Education Baguio City Division as best Indigenous Peoples Education Learning Resource Center (IPed LRC) in the Division of Baguio. It waves the winning banner over the other districts of the Baguio City Division. San Vicente Elementary School of Quezon District and Pacday Quinio Elementary School of West Baguio Central District hold the second place and third place, respectively.
The first place winner for this search will represent the division in the regional competition for the best IPEd LRC in the Cordillera to be judged in January 2017
The division search launched a month ago was participated in by both the elementary and the secondary levels in the ten districts where each district selects their best IPEd LRC.
The criteria for judging the best IPED LRC includes structure, exhibits/display, management and staff, functionality and visitor satisfaction evaluation. All the localized criteria were given corresponding points.
The establishment of IPED LRCs in every school in the Cordillera is aimed at displaying all their artifacts and learning materials from the different communities in the Cordillera.
These display of indigenous materials serves an educational purpose. A center that shows life’s experiences before and their worthwhile purposes in the present system is used in the different learning competencies under the K to12 program.
The search for the best IPED Learning Resource Center is under Regional Memorandum No. 223, s. 2016, as stipulated in Republic Act No. 10533 known as Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 which the Department of Education adopted as the Indigenous Peoples Education Curriculum DepEd Order no. 32 s, 2015.
