MANKAYAN, Benguet – A campus Journalism Training and Workshop was held to further hone the skills of more than 57 Guinaoang National High School student journalist wannabes at Guinaoang Barangay Hall on March 10-11, 2023.
With the theme, “The Smarter the journalists are, the better off society is”, inspired the students to work hard to achieve a better version of themselves.
Feature, sports, editorial, and news writing, copy reading, photojournalism, cartooning and more importantly, learning Media Landscapes, doing grammar exercises and vocabulary building have helped future journalists expand their knowledge on writing articles of higher quality. Some extra activities were also done which only added more to the students’ ability.
Teresa Pacis, Assistant Vice President for Communication of the Apex Mining Company, Inc. (AMCI), and Dexter See of Herald Express, the resource person, gave many great advice to further enhance the aspiring journalists’ skills and knowledge on the latest trends in media vis-à-vis the emergence of social media.
Further, during the discussions, the learners also were able to acquire the necessary lessons that will have an impact on their lives and perspective in life.
The participants expressed their gratitude to the speakers for such an unforgettable experience and that they were lucky to have been part of the one-of-a-kind training in the school for them to become future writers.
