BAGUIO CITY – Mines and Geosciences Bureau – Cordillera (MGB-CAR) Regional Director Fay Apil lauded Apayao for being most compliant in terms of Commercial Sand and Gravel (CSAG) requirement submission and in the implementation of guidelines in the processing and delivery of sand and gravel aggregates..
RD Apil’s statement came earlier today, November 16, 2023 after granting approval for the renewal of permits to 31 Commercial Sand and Gravel (CSAG) operators.
The decision was made during the 4th quarter meeting of the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) held at the MGB-CAR Conference Hall in Baguio City.
RD Apil reviewed the proposed list of permit holders for the upcoming year and successfully moved for the approval of the 31 CSAG permits.
The distribution of the renewed permits is as follows: 1 in Calanasan, 10 in Conner, 2 in Luna, 10 in Pudtol, 4 in Flora, and 4 in Sta. Marcela.
Expressing her satisfaction, RD Apil stated, “Among the provinces in Cordillera, Apayao is the most compliant in terms of CSAG requirement submission. I hope that next year, this function can be devolved to the PLGU for a quicker approval process.”
However, cautioning the permit holders, Provincial Administrator Atty. Edmar Pascua emphasized that any violations committed by them would result in the cancellation of their permits, echoing the commitment of the governor to enforcing responsible mining practices in the province. By JCM
