CONNER, Apayao – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) recently disbursed a sum of PhP845,000 in cash incentives to accredited barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay nutrition scholars (BNSs) of Conner.
The amount aims to help these barangay workers with their expenses owing to the fact that they work on meagre honoraria. The distribution ceremony took place at the Paul A. Delwasen Memorial Gymnasium in Conner, Apayao, on January 12, 2023.
About 169 dedicated BHWs and BNSs who were the direct beneficiaries of this generous endeavour, participated in the events. Each recipient received a cash grant of PhP5,000, accompanied by essential kits containing boots, umbrellas, and uniforms.
Recognized for their role in delivering health services, providing fundamental health education, and rendering selected primary healthcare services at the grassroots level, BHWs and BNSs serve as crucial links between communities and healthcare facilities. Their dedication is evident through diligent day-to-day household visits and fulfilling their responsibilities within assigned healthcare facilities.
In an expression of gratitude and encouragement, Conner Mayor Jorico F. Bayaua pledged additional incentives for all accredited BHWs and BNSs, including the volunteers.
Bayaua also extended appreciation to the administration of Elias C. Bulut Jr. and provincial Government for the steadfast support on various programs and for the efforts contributing to the success of such initiative. By Michelle A.
