LUNA, Apayao – The Apayao Student Assistance Program (ASAP) of the provincial government extended support to a total of 5,680 students, disbursing an impressive sum of PhP49,795,000 throughout the year 2023.
ASAP operates as a component under the banner program of the provincial government, known as Apayao Socio-Economic Efforts Necessary for Growth (ASENG), specifically focusing on the scholarship component. Throughout the previous year, ASAP facilitated educational pursuits, including but not limited to schooling, review sessions, postgraduate courses, law studies, and medicine, among others.
The municipality of Luna had the most beneficiaries with 1,243 scholars, closely followed by Conner with 1,065 scholars and Flora with 1,033 scholars. Other municipalities, such as Pudtol, Santa Marcela, Kabugao, and Calanasan, also contributed significantly, collectively reaching a disbursement amount of P49.79 million.
This financial support catered to students in senior high school, college, earning units, postgraduate studies, law, medicine, and special cases.
Moreover, ASAP extended its assistance to 314 reviewees preparing for board examinations, with a total allocation of PhP3,160,000. Additionally, financial aid was granted to private schools in the province, with St. Joseph High School and Santo Rosario School receiving PhP500,000 each, and Apayao Community Learning Center and Our Lady of Lourdes High School obtaining PhP600,000 each, while KJB Solid Rock Baptist Academy received PhP300,000 in support.
Further, the provincial government, through ASAP, likewise allocated PhP6 million to the Calanasan municipal government, reinforcing their educational assistance program. Additionally, the provincial government invested in enhancing transportation facilities for yApayao students by procuring six units of ASAP buses during the preceding year.
