TABUK CITY, Kalinga – On September 6, 2022, New Tanglag barangay officials and Tabuk PNP members thwarted an attempt to kidnap a child and harass a young woman.
According to a report from city police station, the suspect forcibly took the victim, an eleven-year-old boy, and brought him to a mountainous area of the barangay after the victim noticed the suspect peering into the bathroom where his aunt was taking a shower.
The defendant allegedly grabbed the child by force when he spotted him trying to run away. A ruckus ensued which alerted the people in the neighborhood.
The Tabuk police received a report of the incident and promptly began a pursuit operation. The boy took advantage of this to flee his abductor.
He was later brought to Kalinga Provincial Hospital by PDRRM staff for a medical examination before being recommended to City Social Welfare and Development Office for debriefing.
It was claimed that the suspect may have threatened the victim in order to get him to keep his identity a secret.
A follow-up inquiry is being conducted to find out the identity of the suspect is.
PLTCol Dinulong B. Tombali, the chief of police for Tabuk City, urged members of the public to contact the PNP’s hotlines if they knew anything about the suspect or had any personal information about him.
Dinulong also cautions everyone to keep a close eye on their children at all times.
