LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas welcomed over 300 farmers from the different municipalities in Benguet who participated in the 6th Farmers’ Congress held at the Provincial Capitol on June 27, 2023.
In his message, Governor Diclas assured the farmers of the support for the agriculture sector from the Provincial Government and its partner agencies as well as the national government.
Meanwhile, Congressman Eric Go Yap through his representative, Kristine Molitas, also extended his message of support and commitment to improving the agriculture programs in the province.
With this year’s theme focused on entrepreneurial development, Young Farmers Challenge winners Jomarie Mangeg, Denver Biang, and Shawnie Dhale Bitso were invited to share their best practices in their respective business models.
On the other hand, Imelda Balaoing of DA-CAR presented the enhanced KADIWA program and other related services, while the offices of Provincial Agriculture through Acting Provincial Agriculturist Delinia Juan, and Provincial Veterinary through Gerry Banwagen updated the participants of the different services farmers can avail at the Provincial Government. BENECO Acting General Manager Engr. Artemio Bacoco was also invited to present updates at the electric cooperative.
The farmers were engaged in discussions during the open forum after all the presentations. Different farm tools donated by DA-CAR and Gov. Diclas were also given away as raffle prizes.
Also in attendance during the farmers congress were Board Members Marie Rose Fongwan-Kepes, Atty. Ruben Paoad, Joel Tingbaoen Jr., Fernando Balaodan Sr., Atty. Juan Coy Nazarro Jr., and Atty. Johanes Amuasen. By SAP Jr.
