LAMUT, Ifugao – A couple was able to cheat death after they were successively shot by still unidentified masked armed men along a road at the town proper here recently.
Police authorities identified the victim as Joseph Cabading 53, and Felomena B Cabading, 50.
Initial police investigation showed that the victims were on board their vehicle that was parked on the side of the road when a motorcycle suddenly came from behind and parked on the left side of their vehicle.
Cabading reportedly noticed that the back rider was allegedly armed that is why he alerted his wife to alight from the vehicle and go to the back portion which she did.
However, the armed back rider who was wearing a mask allegedly alighted from the motorcycle and fired at Cabading’s wife that caused her to sustain multiple gunshot wounds.
Cabading picked up a number of stones and threw the same to the gun-wielding individual but the motorcycle driver alighted and fired at him several times hitting him on the different parts of his body before the duo fled towards an undisclosed direction.
Cabading was able to bring his wife and himself to a local hospital for initial medical treatment before they were transferred to a hospital in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya where they are now undergoing close medical supervision.
Probers are still ascertaining the motive behind the attempted murder of the couple.
