BAGUIO CITY – Starting the week right with a grateful heart, the employees of the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) gathered for a Thanksgiving Mass this morning, February 26, after the regular Flag Raising Ceremony at the DA-CAR Compound, Guisad, Baguio City.
Officiated by Father Eugene Ofo-ob of the Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, the employees reminisced about the goodness of the Heavenly Father and the blessings poured upon them over the past weeks, especially for the protection and guidance throughout the delivery of their services in the Cordillera region.
Father Ofo-ob said that everyone is exposed to risks and dangers, especially those travelling in the provinces, thus, encouraging the employees to keep on praying for God’s continual care and protection. “Pray in good times and bad times,” he said.
Moreover, Father Ofo-ob underscored that the specific works were entrusted to the employees regardless of rank, which they should not boast about, but be grateful for, putting emphasis on servant-leadership. Thus, reminded that “one must work in the spirit of service and heart of passion and inspired by the Holy Spirit for the benefit of the constituents.”
Along with the thanksgiving, Father Ofo-ob also officiated the blessing of the three new DA-CAR vehicles namely one four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle, one four-wheel drive Toyota Hilux pick-up, and one four-wheel drive Navarra Nissan pick-up.
These vehicles amounting to a total of P6.7 Million will be used to complement the regular operations of the DA-Philippine Rural Development Project-Regional Project Coordination Office (PRDP-RPCO), Office of the Regional Executive Director, and Office of the Regional Technical Director for Operations. The blessings for the existing office vehicles were also renewed and prayed over.
With the activity, Father Ofo-ob prayed that these vehicles would achieve the purpose to which it is assigned and to keep all the passengers safe from any danger. By Janice B. Agrifino
