MANABO, Abra – A 32-year old farmer was injured after he was allegedly hacked by his own father due to suspected misunderstanding inside their residence at Sapdaan, Ayyeo, here, Saturday.
Police authorities identified the victim as Mario Salimbay Bawanta, 32, single, farmer while the suspect was his own father who was named as Agapito Bawanta Sr. alias Itong, 65, married, farmer, both residents of Sapdaan, Ayyeo, Manabo, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspect were both under the influence of liquor when a heated altercation suddenly erupted between them.
The suspect was able to grab a bolo which he allegedly used to hack his son on his neck, head and back.
The victim was rushed to the Manabo District Hospital for medical treatment but he was later transferred to the Abra Provincial Hospital where he is now confined.
Responding police operatives were able to arrest the suspect and recover the firearm used in the incident which was believed to have been triggered by alleged misunderstanding due to drunkenness.
