ITOGON, Benguet – The municipal government recently got a brand-new ambulance that will definitely help in boosting the enhanced delivery of basic health services to the people in the town’s various barangays and immediately respond to calls for emergency during natural and human-induced calamities.
Mayor Bernard S. Waclin and Municipal Health Officer Dr. Oliver Guadayan formally received the fully equipped ambulance from the Members Church of God International (MCGI) officers led by Resty Reyes during simple turnover rites held at the municipal hall recently.
Earlier, Mayor Waclin requested the provision of the fully equipped ambulance from MCGI to support the effective and efficient implementation of the municipal government’s enhanced health care programs and emergency response efforts.
For his part, Reyes informed local officials that the religious group will not demand any favor in return for the aid donation but what the organization wants is for the local government to allow the MCGI to work for the people, especially those in the remote villages of the municipality through their religious and civic activities.
Waclin expressed the local government’s sincerest gratitude to the group’s representative servant Daniel Razon for such gesture and vowed that the municipality will appropriately maintain the ambulance so that it will serve the needs of the people.
The municipal council led by Vice Mayor Dax Godio also passed a resolution expressing appreciation and gratitude to MCGI for extending its outreach programs to the different parts of the municipality and for willfully donating a brand new ambulance to the local government that will be instrumental in enhancing the delivery of health care services and improving emergency response to the various barangays.
MCGI also granted Mayor Waclin’s request to continue the conduct of medical missions in the remote villages of the municipality to help in providing complimentary health programs to the people, especially those living in remote villages.
Waclin claimed that the religious group completed medical and outreach missions to the town’s 9 barangays and that it will continue with the so-called all-encompassing medical-dental mission, including optical and legal assistance.
He said that the group assured the local government that the conduct of outreach programs will still continue in the remote villages to be able to provide people with the basic health services.
Waclin admitted that the presence of the group in the municipality has definitely contributed in further enhancing the delivery of health care services to those who really need the services considering that the concerned government agencies and the local government cannot fully provide the needs of the people.
Itogon is one of the 5 first-class municipalities in the province and relies on mining as the major source of income to sustain the delivery of basic services and implement various high impact development projects.
