City officials approved the request of the Onjon ni Ivadoy Association, Inc. to appropriate the amount of P500,000 for the celebration of Ibaloi festival in October 2022 in synchronization with the Indigenous Peoples Month in the city subject to availability of funds.
Under Resolution No. 438, series of 2022, city legislators stated that the earlier amount of P200,000 for the celebration of the International Indigenous Peoples month which was supposedly celebrated last August 2022 in the city shall be one of the sources for the aforesaid celebration.
Earlier, the city council passed Ordinance No. 09, series of 2013, entitled ‘Institutionalizing the Ibaloi Day and making it a Regular Activity of the City Government of Baguio.’
On the other hand, the Onjon ni Ivadoy Association, Inc. passed Resolution No. 04, series of 2022, entitled ‘A Resolution Reiterating the Previous Request of Onjon Ni Ivadoy Association, Inc. for the Institutionalization of Ibaloi Festival to be held every month of October each year in synchronization with the Indigenous Peoples month, with a Proposed Budget of P500,000.’
Upon deliberation, the city councilors approved the P500,000 request, subject to availability of funds, and that the earlier appropriation allotted in the amount of P200,000 for the celebration of the International Indigenous Peoples Month which was supposedly held last August 2022 in the city shall be one of the sources of funding in the celebration of the Ibaloi Festival in October 2022 in synchronization with the Indigenous Peoples Month in the city.
