TABUK CITY, Kalinga– In its monthly Kapehan on September 5, the body chaired by Governor James Edduba approved the proposal for Kalinga to host activities of the Miss Earth pageant to showcase Kalinga culture and tourism.
Through a vote, the Kapehan body chose the long gown competition as one of the activities that will be hosted to promote Kalinga weaving.
The provincial administration views the hosting as an opportunity to promote Kalinga’s tourism on a national and international scale without placing a significant financial strain on the province because it wants to finance the hosting mostly through collaborations with private organizations.
The activities in Kalinga are slated on the last week of November.
Miss Earth is an annual international environmental-themed beauty pageant competition promoting environmental awareness, conservation, and social responsibility. The pageant is one of the “Big Four” international beauty pageants, along with Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss International.
