KAPANGAN, Benguet – A 46-year laborer was hurt after he was hacked by a fellow laborer while having a drinking session during a wedding reception at Catampan, Beling-Belis, here, recently.
Chief Inspector Jim Hilario, chief of the Kapangan Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Hugo Claudio Tomas, 46, married, construction worker while the arrested suspect was named as Ayner Gando Bernard, 26 years old, single, laborer, and both residents of Catampan, Beling-belis, Kapangan, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and the suspect had a drinking session during a wedding reception in the place of incident when a heated altercation suddenly erupted between them.
After a few moments, the suspect allegedly hacked the victim on the different parts of his body with the use of a still undetermined type of sharp object.
The victim was initially rushed to the Kapangan Community Hospital for medical treatment before being transferred to the Benguet General Hospital for further medical treatment while the arrested suspect was brought to the Kapangan Municipal Police Station for documentation prior to the filing of the appropriate charges against him before the provincial prosecutor’s office.
