BAGUIO CITY April 10 – The No. 6 top most wanted person in Leyte, who was reportedly involved in the murder of a policeman in their place, was arrested by combined police and intelligence agents during the conduct of recent manhunt operation at his alleged hideout at justice village, Bakakeng Central, here.
Police Col. Allen Rae F. Co, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the arrested wanted individual as Leonilo Canaz Medalla, 47, construction worker, married, native of Carigara, Leyte and presently residing at Justice Village, Bakakeng Central, Baguio City.
The arresting team served the warrant of arrest against him for alleged murder issued by Judge Lauro AP Castillo, Jr. of the Regional trial Court (RTC) Branch 36 in Caragara, Leyte without no bail for his temporary liberty.
Co claimed that the arrested person was also allegedly involved in the murder of Police Staff Sergeant Fernan E. Carnoda at Sitio Macalapi, Barangay Libas, in Leyte.
The slain police officer is assigned at the regional intelligence task force of the Police Regional Office 8 who was about to serve Medalla’s warrant of arrest when he was reportedly shot to death by the aforesaid wanted individual.
Medalla was immediately brought to the BCPO headquarters for documentation prior to this turnover to the personnel of the Leyte Provincial Police Office and the issuing court for the proper disposal of the cases against him.
