BONTOC, Mountain Province – Twenty-seven student organizations and non-organizations of the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) with 339 officers came together in a strong show of unity and determination. They swore to become exemplary leaders in a ceremony held at the MPSPC- Bontoc Campus Auditorium on October 23, 2023.
Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong Jr., administered the oath-taking of newly elected officers of various organizations in the academe. The attendees were future educators, environmentalists, and advocates for social change, all with a shared goal: to make a positive impact on the college and community. The oath-taking ceremony symbolized a commitment to make MPSPC known for exceptional leadership and community service. The students pledged to work together, support each other’s initiatives, and lead with integrity and passion.
Among the highlights of the event were the messages delivered by Mayor Tudlong and MPSPC SUC President III Edgar Cue, represented by Vice President for Administration and Finance Dexter Lingbanan, who shared their personal leadership journeys and encouraged the student leaders.
The mayor shared his own leadership experiences and emphasized the importance of determination and dedication. He reminded the students that leadership is about making a meaningful difference in the lives of others, not just holding titles.
His words inspired the students, reigniting their sense of purpose and motivation. They understood that leadership is an ongoing journey of self-improvement, and the mayor’s call to “walk the talk” filled them with determination and enthusiasm.
The mayor expressed high hopes that as the student-leaders begin their leadership journey, his message along with the college’ president’s speech will continue to resonate in their hearts, reminding them of the power of dedication and their potential for greatness. “With this newfound inspiration, these young leaders are poised to create a lasting legacy at the MPSPC and beyond,” Tudlong added.
