PINUKPUK, Kalinga – A 52-year old member of the New Peoples Army (NPA) was arrested by combined police and military operatives based on a warrant for murder in his hideout at Mabuyoc, Dugpa, here, recently.
Senior Superintendent Victor Wanchakan, officer-in-charge of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the arrested rebel as Edwin Bucawit Balaoag alias Ligtas/ Bagyan, 52who is the No. 27 in the rebel watchlist for the first quarter of this year and a resident of Sitio Mabuyoc, Brgy Dugpa, Pinukpuk, Kalinga.
He was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Corpuz Alzate of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 1 in Bangued, Abra for murder with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.
The arrested rebel was brought to the Pinukpuk Municipal Police Station for documentation prior to his turnover to the issuing court for the proper disposition of the case filed against him.
