PUDTOL, Apayao – Senator Imee Marcos, on August 18, led the distribution of financial assistance to some 1000 college students in Apayao whose families were hard hit by recent Typhoon Egay, under her hashtag, ‘Imeesolusyon, Makabasa Latta’ educational assistance banner program.
Held at the EKB Gymnasium, Poblacion, Pudtol, Apayao, each of the students received PhP5,000 immediate cash assistance from the Senator whose aim is to augment their school needs, and eventually help them cope-up with the crisis their farmer-parents are confronted with at the moment.
The senator complimented the resilience of yApayao youths to pursue studies even in the midst of great challenges, and encouraged them to persevere amidst the hardships in their educational journey saying, “Uray agbagyo, uray narigat ti panagbiag, makabasa latta, agturpos latta, we are behind you in every effort.”
Marcos also acknowledged the struggle of parents whose main livelihoods were devastated making it difficult to financially support their children in their studies.
“I would like to extend not only financial assistance to students, but also to every family in Apayao who have been adversely affected by the recent calamity which struck our place,” Marcos said.
Knowing by heart the need of the yApayaos post-disaster, Marcos pledged an additional P25M fund, dedicated to every typhoon-affected family in the province. Out of said amount, Marcos said that P15 million shall be dispensed through the Cash-for-Work scheme, while the remaining P10 million will be allocated as an emergency fund.
For his part, Governor Elias C. Bulut expressed his gratitude for the unending generosity of the senator to the province. By Jomela Dela Torre
