BAGUIO CITY – A 57-year old stor keeper died after he was hit by a stray bullet that emanated from the firearm of her customer at Purok 5, Kias here Friday evening.
Senior Superintendent George Daskeo, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City Police Office, identified the victim as Teresita Ausena Damey, 57, married, store keeper and resident of No. 5007 Purok 5, Kias, Baguio City while he named the suspect, who was also wounded in the incident as, Malvin Ballogan Bandao, 38, married, laborer, and resident of Kias, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the suspect and his companion were drinking inside the victim’s store when a gunshot suddenly sounded with the suspect uttering the word ‘aray’ before immediately leaving the store.
Unknown to them, the stray bullet from a still undisclosed type of firearm reportedly hit the victim who was seated on a stool after it hit the suspect’s palm causing her to hold on to his right shoulder.
Upon seeing blood oozing from the victim’s breath, her husband Dionisio Pasayan Damey immediately rushed her to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but she was declared dead by Dra. Jennifer Rivera due to loss of blood while the suspect, who also sought treatment from the same hospital, was arrested but no firearm was recovered from his possession.
The suspect was brought to the BCPO headquarters for documentation prior to the filing of appropriate charges against him.
