TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Council presided by Vice Mayor Dick Bal-o confirmed the appointments of two department heads, Domingo Burcio of the City Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) and Erwin Manadao of the City Information and Communications Technology Office (CICTO), who recently took their oath of office.
During the confirmation, the council urged the newly appointed office chiefs to function well in their respective positions and to give their best in all aspects of their jobs, in accordance with law and existing policies.
The POSO was directed to fix the traffic system of the city, especially on the main thoroughfares as well as to implement the use of helmets and other transportation laws that can help mitigate accidents.
It was recommended that POSO install CCTV cameras in strategic locations including the entrance and exits of the city that can help monitor traffic situations including crimes of carnapping.
Additionally, the POSO was also urged to propose an ordinance that can promote the use of bicycles in that city in consideration of the wide roads that were constructed.
On the other hand, the CICTO was urged to plan for the digitalization of some transactions including the conduct of their paperless sessions as the city government is gearing towards a smart city.
The CICTO Chief was commanded to help facilitate the establishment of the E-library in the legislative department, which helps to store electronically the approved ordinances, resolutions, and relevant communications to be more accessible to the public.
The newly appointed department heads vowed and assured before the council to act on the recommendations that were requested in response to their functions. By Ian Jefrey Addatu
