KABUGAO, Apayao – A 45-year old teacher died after he was shot to death by his own father-in-law during an altercation that was caused by the former stoning the latter’s residence at Santa Pukaw, here, Wednesday dawn.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Jaime Tamayao Enciso, 45, married, teacher while the suspect who was his father-in-law was named as Peter Patayan, 68, married, retired government employee, both residents of Santa, Pukaw, Kabugao, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed the victim arrived home under the influence of liquor and was said to have been looking for his wife who was in the house of her father preparing for their travel to Luna.
After a few moments, the victim stoned his father-in-law’s house thrice that resulted into a heated altercation between the two.
The victim decided to go inside their house but he was followed by the suspect who shot him once before fleeing towards an undisclosed direction.
The victim was rushed to the Kabugao District Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to a lone gunshot wound on his left chest while the suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SCO) team recovered from the crime scene a lone spent shell of a calibre .45 pistol which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
