LUNA Apayao – Forty-two inmates in the province of Apayao benefitted from the government’s program for skills training on November 10, 2023 at Luna District Provincial Jail.
The Transformative Entrepreneurship Training was made possible through the partnership of the provincial offices of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority of Apayao led by Director Glenn N. Murphy, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) headed by Director Wena M. Buston, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology ( BJMP) headed by Jail Warden Dan C. Bugtong.
The aim is to help inmates earn some income and be productive as they journey towards transformation.
With the primary goal of enhancing entrepreneurial skills and imparting basic accounting knowledge, the trainees were guided by the Senior Trade Industry Development Specialist Ms. Daisy J. Quimoyog, and Business Center Counselor Jessa E. Andres from DTI-Apayao.
The innovative training approach, using Business Expense Savings Training (BEST) games, aimed to make learning interactive and practical.
The goal of BEST is to foster a hands-on understanding of business expense management, encouraging financial literacy and sustainable entrepreneurial practices. By M. Acantilado
