BAGUIO CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Training Center (RTC) Baguio forged partnerships with 5 industries to strengthen and expand its partnership and linkages yesterday, November 11.
The Memorandum of Agreement signing ceremony held at Lafayette Hotel Baguio City was participated by the industry partners and TESDA RTC-Baguio.
All, except for Toyota Baguio, forged a partnership with the training center for the first time. Three (3) of the industries are from the Automotive Sector, namely Toyota Baguio, GRTuning Autoshop, and Marcos Highway Diesel Calibration Shop. The other two (2), GEGA Engineering and Construction Services and Gegasa Engineers and Construction Services are from the Construction sector.
The agreement was for the Supervised Industry Learning Program under the Enterprise-Based Learning umbrella. Both parties agreed to forge partnership in the promotion and delivery of TVET programs, provision of a venue for industry experience and immersion of trainees, curriculum enhancement, and placement referrals.
Regional Director Jeffrey Ian C. Dy explained that one of the objectives of Enterprise Based Training is to train individuals to become “highly employable”.
“Maraming matutulungan itong kabataan, ang ibibigay ninyong craftsmanship doon sa bata ay yung gagamitin talaga nila direct to employment, that’s how important these types of training are,” he stressed.
Partnering with private institutions in terms of skills training and development is crucial for the training center to provide a high standard of training delivery to their learners. Also, innovation and technology have always been a top agenda of TESDA. Despite the persisting effects of the pandemic, the training center, is stepping up its collaboration with private sectors and other government institutions.
RTC Administrator Felixberto B. Matute, Jr. also emphasized the significance of partnership in helping the learners to get employment opportunities and work experience.
The benefits were also reinforced by Dir. Dy. “This is ultimately for the overall Filipino workforce, we thank you because you are not only giving work you are also giving soul to our nation,” he exclaimed.
The signatories from the industry partners gave their message of commitment to verbally express their adherence to the agreement.
“Before wala pong private institution to offer automotive courses and basically talagang mga technicians po namin ay fruit po ng TESDA, without them hindi po kami makakapag-repair ng sasakyan po na nakikita natin everywhere so it’s a privilege for us to be part of this partnership,” said Rainel Calagui, After-Sales Manager of Toyota Baguio.
In December, TESDA RTC will have a capability building for the creation of the training plan. After its completion, they will be sending trainees to the industries for OJT. By Jhodie Flor Carpio & SNMP
