BAGUIO CITY – To bolster their data management capabilities, 30 staff from the Research Division and Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) of the DA-RFO CAR participated in a training workshop on the basic and advanced use of Microsoft Excel Application at the Organic Agriculture Building, Baguio Animal Breeding and Research Center (BABRC) Compound, Dontogan, Baguio City on February 20-21, 2024.
While discussing the concepts, Mr. Yusuf Alusine P. Sesay, Administrative Assistant V of the agency’s HRMO who served as the resource speaker, let the participants delve into a range of Excel application features, including data trimming, cleaning techniques, and the utilization of power and pivot charts and pie of pie features.
The workshop fostered an interactive learning environment, with participants actively applying the theoretical concepts discussed in each session. Mr. Sesay provided hands-on assistance and proactively suggested alternative methodologies to optimize data management processes. These sessions were designed to equip researchers with the skills needed to efficiently prepare and present their data in the context of their research endeavors.
The participants expressed their learnings after the training. “I commend our resource speaker for sharing his expertise that are useful in data preparation. I encourage my fellow researchers to continue exploring the Excel application,” expressed Leah E. Mon, Science Research Specialist II, one of the participants.
Mr. Sesay has a rich background in software applications like Festo, MATLAB, AutoCAD, QGIS, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and MS Office.
The capability-building activity is part of the Agriculture and Fisheries Resources, Research and Extension for Development Network (AFRREDN-CAR) initiative towards equipping researchers on the use of the Microsoft Excel application.
