SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls will launch SM Prime and Youth Power Up DOE’s Energy Conservation Campaign “You Have the Power” Roadshow on June 23 at SM City Baguio Atrium which will run until June 26.
The theme “You Have the Power” speaks to the capability and accountability in promoting energy efficiency and conservation, especially among the youth and their families. The roadshow will showcase SM Prime’s innovative green building design across SM Supermalls, which incorporates renewable energy, energy-efficient building management systems, and electric vehicle charging stations.
Activities for the roadshow also includes DOE Learning Session with University of the Cordilleras Senior High school students designed to engage with the youth by featuring messages from the public and private sector and DOE’s Digital Poster Making contest.
SM has been investing more in renewable energy. Eight malls in the country and three in China are now equipped with solar panels, with more to follow in the coming months. SM also pledged to increase its use of renewable energy to 50 percent of its overall energy usage by year-end.
The You Have the Power Roadshow is just one of the numerous ways that SM is promoting sustainable living among Filipinos, and the company has other programs aimed at helping care for the environment. These are the Trash to Cash Recycling Market held every first Friday and Saturday of the month; daily water recycling systems, and environmental campaigns such as the Green Film Festival, Green Retail Agenda, and the International Coastal Cleanup Drive, just to name a few.
