ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao April 20 – A 41-year driver died after he drowned in a deep portion of the Bangar River at the Magat quarry site, here, Tuesday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Modesto Agustin Gombio Jr. “alias.” Junjun, 41 years old, driver and a resident of San Andres, Santiago City Isabela.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was washing his dump truck in a knee-level portion of the river when he stepped backward and slipped into a deep portion of the river considering that the water was unclear.
Rescuers immediately responded to the accident scene and recovered the victim’s body and rushed him to the Potia District Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to alleged drowning and that his body did not contain any unnecessary external injuries or signs of foul play.
