LUNA, Apayao – The municipal government has announced plans to reward its winning athletes participating in the upcoming Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) and Palarong Pambansa.
The initiative is in line with Municipal Ordinance No. 465, enacted by the Sangguniang Bayan Luna in 2022, titled “Sports Excellence Rewards Program of the Municipality of Luna, Apayao.”
According to Section 6 of the ordinance, winning athletes will receive cash incentives for their achievements in various sports events. For individual events at the CARAA meet, gold medalists will receive PhP3,000, silver medalists PhP2,000, and bronze medalists PhP1,000. Meanwhile, at the Palarong Pambansa, gold medalists will be awarded PhP4,000, silver medalists PhP3,000, and bronze medalists PhP2,000.
In team events, the rewards are even more substantial. CARAA team event gold medalists will receive PhP10,000, silver medalists PhP8,000, and bronze medalists PhP7,000. For Palarong Pambansa team event winners, gold medalists will be awarded PhP15,000, silver medalists PhP12,000, and bronze medalists PhP10,000.
“Through its enactment, Municipal Ordinance No. 465, S. 2022 symbolizes the collective commitment to nurturing talent, fostering dreams, and celebrating the triumphs of the local athletes,” announced SBO Luna on its Facebook page.
This initiative by the municipal government recognizes the hard work and dedication of its athletes and likewise serves as a motivation for them to continue striving for excellence in their respective sports disciplines. By JCM
