SAGADA, Mountain Province – The municipality of Sagada in Mountain Province, represented by Mayor Felicito O. Dula, and the city of Tabuk, represented by acting City Mayor Dick G. Bal-o, signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the Sisterhood of both local governments recently at the Sagada Municipal Hall.
The MOU stated that the municipality of Sagada and the city of Tabuk have long recognized each other as “sisters” with their shared values, cultural heritage, and mutual interests.
Moreover, Sagada and Tabuk aim to foster understanding, friendship, and goodwill, facilitating the establishment of projects and exchanges of mutual interest across the realms of investments, education, culture, tourism, and sustainable development.
The purposes of the sisterhood relationship include: Encourage exchange visits, organized tours, cultural programs, and affiliations that promote the rich Sagada and Kalinga heritage and traditions; cooperation in joint activities that foster economic cooperation and trade relations to stimulate economic growth and development in Sagada and Tabuk City; exchange of professional and technical expertise and support for joint initiatives in areas of tourism, disaster management, environmental sustainability, education, and other developmental concerns
Activities and implementation:
Sagada and Tabuk continue to engage in collaborative activities, events, and occasions that align with the purposes of the sisterhood. Implementation of the sisterhood relations by Sagada, and Tabuk shall be overseen by designated representatives from both local governments. Sisterhood shall also be evaluated and monitored by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), as provided by Section 5.3 of DILG Memorandum Circular 202353.
Witnessing delegates from Tabuk are councilors Samuel Sumaal, Abraham Licaycay, Alejandro Cos-agon, Errol Comafay, CCEDO Head Catherine Uera, City Information Officer Aurora Amilig, City Legal Office Head Arthur Kub-ao, Assistant Head Guillermo Lawagan, Francisco Gamatero, and Mike Malamnao and other city government employees.
