BAGUIO CITY – Around 50 grantees of the Apayao Student Assistance Program (ASAP) currently studying in various colleges and universities in Baguio City and Benguet underwent orientation about the scholarship program on November 12, 2023.
Held at the Conference Hall of Hotel Veniz, Session Road, the ASAP team, led by Supervising Administrative Officer Marie Claire Palattao, conducted a two-hour walkthrough of the program.
The orientation aimed at familiarizing the students with the flagship socio-economic initiative of the provincial government known as the Apayao Socio-economic Efforts Necessary For Growth (ASENG).
Covering various aspects of ASENG, the orientation outlined its five components: Employment, Livelihood, Immediacies, Access to credit financing, and Scholarship (ELIAS).
ASAP, being a key scholarship component of ASENG, takes center stage in supporting the educational pursuits of deserving yApayao youth. The program ensures that students have access to educational opportunities, aligning with the broader goals of ASENG.
Governor’s Chief of Staff Verlie Mae Baldovino emphasized in her statement the recent accomplishments of yApayaos in licensure exams. “The governor is committed to bolstering the educational sector through an enhanced scholarship program,” she said adding that “the province’s ability to produce topnotchers in the recent years, is a proof that Apayao can cultivate competent scholars and graduates.”
Baldovino also provided encouragement to the students in their academic pursuits, stating, “Although your journey may be challenging, always keep in mind that the view from the top is always worth it. Go forth and make Apayao proud,” she concluded. By JCM
